Our success depends on the enthusiasm and dedication of our volunteers. Over two hundred men, women and teenagers assist our staff in a variety of ways. They help as side aides and leaders in the riding ring; they aid in the grooming and tacking up of the horses and ponies; working in the stable, tack room, indoor arena, or the nearby fields. Volunteers are very helpful working in the office, and in the preparation of special events such as our annual fundraiser The Victory Gallop, The Handicapped Riders Division of the Devon Horse Show and Dressage at Devon. All volunteers receive in-service training so that they may better respond to the special needs of our riders. We invite you to our farm, to help in any way you can.

Consider the possibility that you may be moved to help, if not here at Thorncroft, then wherever your time could make a difference to someone who just needs a little care and assistance. We have needed volunteers to help with everything from horse care, to side aids for our riders, to composing software!

How You Can Make a Difference:

• Our daily lesson schedule requires the aid of many helping hands. Over 400 lessons a week are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday,
  and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• The Handicapped Riders Division of the Devon Horse Show takes place at Thorncroft on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend each year. Over 130 riders compete in several classes.
  The more help...the better!
• Dressage at Devon is held on the grounds of the Devon Horse Show at the end of September. Thorncroft has been the sole beneficiary of this prestigious dressage show since 1991. Over 300 volunteers ensure that every aspect of this exciting event runs smoothly.
• Spring Horse Trials and Dressage Events at Thorncroft are possible only with the many friends that work as fence judges, scribes, runners and general helpers during these one day events.
• The Annual Thorncroft Victory Gallop held at the Hotel Atop the Belllevue each Spring is one of the largest fund raisers of then year. It takes many hands to prepare for this black tie affair, an evening of dining, dancing and a Silent Auction.
• Summer Camp Programs start in June, and continue for 6 weeks. Many of our campers come to us with special needs. They are helped by our volunteers in the barn and during lessons.
